The Quilia app can automatically translate CaseChat messages to your preferred language, making it easy to communicate with your legal team even if you speak different languages. This guide shows you how to enable translations and set your language preference.
Prerequisites
- The Quilia app installed on your device
- An active case with CaseChat enabled
How to Enable Translations
Step 1: Open Settings
- Open the Quilia app
- Tap the Settings icon (gear) in the bottom navigation or menu
Step 2: Find CaseChat Translations
Scroll down to find the CaseChat Translations section.
Step 3: Enable Message Translations
Toggle on Enable message translations. When enabled:
- Messages from your legal team will be automatically translated to your preferred language
- You'll see a progress indicator while messages are being translated
- You can tap "Show original" to view the original message text
Note: This setting is enabled by default. If you've never changed it, translations should already be active.
Setting Your Preferred Language
For translations to work correctly, you need to set your preferred language in the app:
Step 1: Go to Profile Settings
- Open Settings in the app
- Look for Language or Profile settings
Step 2: Select Your Language
Choose your preferred language from the list. This is the language that messages will be translated into.
Step 3: Save Changes
Your language preference is saved automatically.

How Translations Appear
When viewing translated messages:
- Automatic Translation: Messages appear in your preferred language automatically
- Translation Progress: You'll see "Translating... X/Y" while messages are being processed
- Show Original: Tap "Show original" below any message to see what was originally written
- Hide Original: Tap "Hide original" to return to the translated version
Important Notes
- Language Must Be Set: Translations only work if your app language is set to your preferred language. If your app is set to English but you speak Spanish, change your language setting to Spanish.
- Both Settings Required: You need BOTH the translation toggle enabled AND your correct language set for translations to work.
- Default is ON: Translation is enabled by default—you only need to check settings if translations aren't working.
Troubleshooting
Translations aren't appearing:
- Check that Enable message translations is turned ON in Settings
- Verify your preferred language is set correctly
- Make sure your app language matches the language you want translations in
- Try closing and reopening the chat
Messages show in the wrong language:
- Go to Settings and update your language preference
- Close and reopen the CaseChat conversation
- Messages will re-translate to your new language preference
"Show original" doesn't appear:
- This link only appears for messages that have been translated
- If the message was originally written in your language, there's no translation to show
Tips
- Quick Toggle: You can quickly enable or disable translations from the Settings screen without changing your language
- Preview Translations: Message previews in your chat list also show translated text when enabled
- Original Always Available: The original message is never lost—you can always tap "Show original" to see it
